Stone sitting Buddha Notes: This statue was in the Japanese Hill and Water garden. John Morris purchased the Buddha from Yamanaka & Co of Boston in 1909 (Catalogue No. 2 of Articles…). The 1909 Compton Atlas shows that it was located near the spillway in the garden. The Hill and Water Garden was constructed by Y. Muto of Tokyo, Japan in 1905. |
