|Title||Morris Estate Account Books 1911-1914|
|Scope & Content||
January 1912 through January 1914 - Monthly account book of Frank Gould with John T. Morris, noting monthly cash expenditures for employees, transit expenses, stationery costs and other incidentals. (Only the first page of the ledger has information for the year 1911.)
Frank Gould was a landscape gardener from Wellsley, MA, who helped John Morris install and plant several features of the Arboretum.
There is a letter in the book to John Morris from Joseph W. Mallinson dated February 3rd (presumably 1909), setting forth his previously communicated complaint about Frank Gould and his wages, and tendering his resignation.
Other documents folded into the book appear to be informal accounting reconciliation for specific periods.
